Popular Prichard Business Owner, Cozy Brown, Shot and Robbed!

A well known Prichard business owner was shot and robbed Thursday, June 16th. According to Prichard Police, Cozy Brown, owner of Cozy Brown’s Kitchen, was shot multiple times and robbed as he was closing the restaurant around 9:45 p.m.
According to Sgt. Robert Martin, Prichard Police, Cozy Brown was about to leave the business and an unknown invader walked up and attempted to rob him. According to FOX10 News, a struggle followed and several shots were fired hitting Mr. Brown.
According to witnesses, Brown was hit at least three times but was sensible and speaking shortly after the shooting. He is currently being treated at a local hospital.

New Details Revealed During News Conference
According to a news release from MPD, 18-year-old Michael Moore died at the hospital. Moore was shot and killed Monday following a confrontation with a police officer.
According to local 15 News WMPI, The fatal shooting happened following a routine traffic stop. Around 6:15PM, a Mobile police officer pulled over the car that Moore was driving near Stanton Road and Wagner Street. There were two other people inside.
The news states that the officer reported that Moore didn’t have a valid license and asked him to step out of the vehicle. Once out of the vehicle, police report there was a brief confrontation and the officer noticed Moore had a handgun on his waist. The officer pulled his gun and shot Moore four times. He was taken to the hospital and later died. The office wasn’t injuried.
Since the shooting, Police Chief James Barber states that there is no plan to release police body camera footage recorded by other officers after the shooting. During the latest news conference, it was confirmed that the gun that was recovered with Moore’s body was recovered by emergency personnel at the hospital, not by police on the scene of the shooting. Police Chief James Barber states that the owner of the stolen car has been interviewed by the police. The owner of the stolen car is not related to Michael Moore. While investigating, officers allegedly found evidence from five automobile burglariesWMPI states that the officer has been placed on administrative leave pending this investigation.
